Lyrics (written by Derek Recsei):

In evening times
I make the time to walk out west to where
A sheet of gold doth shed its shards
Like glass into the air

Be coiled about with claustral hugs
From sinuous tree-lined park
The lake of light lies fearful
For the coming of the dark

In flawless glide, the pelican
Holds fast suspended thought
The drakes puff up their speckled chests
To boast of what they’ve caught

Slithe cormorants turn upside bob
Like pivots on their prey
Black swans hose down the fetid wrack
Of sunstroke fevered day

I walk alone along a path that, past the playground, goes
The children shriek, corella clowns are hanging by their toes
From wires strung along the street, taut playthings of their own
The magpie looks on and yearns, his young away have flown

The lake is mirror to a sky cast out in golden shroud
The fading breeze runs rippling love beneath the dusty cloud
No words, they gaze upon each other, lake, and endless sky
I don’t know what it is, my love, makes me want to cry

James Franklin is a singer & songwriter in Australia.

Since the ripe age of just 7 years old, he has been crafting and recording his own songs, and soon realised he wanted to write and perform for the rest of his life.

His beautifully smooth and soulful vocals don’t fall within one genre but instead draw influences from a mix of folk, pop, country and soul.

His catching songwriting ability and engaging words are equally matched by his superb guitar melodies.
